Angelina, the Coffee Beana

A Children’s Story for Grown up Kids!

Truly, few of the members of the Arabica Family could have recognized the star quality of the pale green coffee bean who would soon achieve fame and fortune in the desert community of Tucson, Arizona.

Growing up on the Inca Dinka Finca, (stands for plantation) located high in a mountains region near Vera Cruz, Mexico; Angelina received the warmth and affection of Don Francisco Coffee Beana. Don Francisco would ride his white stallion through the Finca and blow kisses to his beloved coffee bean family.

Angelina knew she was special. One day, as she popped out of her cherry, Don Francisco explained that she must prepare for her great adventure in America where people were known to worship exceptional coffee beans.

After Angelina was bathed and dried, she was lovingly placed in her special burlap bag labeled “Product of Mexico”. She was then transported to the border with all the necessary paperwork to make her a legal American citizen.

Angelina is brought to the Wilde Rose Roastery located in Tucson, Arizona. She is immediately introduced to Ron Rose the Roaster, who would be conducting the routine “physical” that all beans must pass. But alas, something is wrong! Angelina is pale and green from her long trip to America. Emergency help is needed. With loving care, Ron the Roaster determines that the best medicine for Angelina will be a 20 minute “spin” in the drum of his antique Diedrich roaster. With the heat rising rapidly, within five minutes, Angelina begins to lose here pale green pallor, and a lovely cinnamon color replaces the green “chaff” that flies up the flue!

With every passing minute Angelina turns a deep glistening mahogany color and Ron can see she’s a “knockout”. With the makeover complete, Ron exclaims that Angelina is “hot, really hot, 425º hot," and needs to cool down.

As soon as she moves to her new home, along with thousands of her friends, she peers out of the window of her red bag. Upon seeing all the appreciative Wilde Rose fans, she begins to wave.  Folk lore has it that passerby's can hear a faint cry saying “take me, take me, I’m yours!”
